In our guide to Hollywood Studios characters, you’ll find the lowdown on all the characters you can meet in the park. You’ll notice a decidedly movie and television focus on the characters you can meet, in addition to the Fab 5. And if you thought Animal Kingdom was short on princesses, well Hollywood Studios just said “hold my beer!”. That’s right, not to be outdone, Hollywood Studios characters are soon to feature zero princesses. None, nada, zilch.
As we said in our other park character meet and greet guides, keep your eyes peeled for informal chances to meet characters in the park. These can be some of the best chances for special and truly unique interactions. If the characters have the time, they are always willing to interact. There will be a few instances where they may have to keep moving along due to a commitment. Don’t take offense. As an example, check out this random meeting with Alice from Alice in Wonderland, where she was strolling along and all our girls did was wave at her. While this actually occurred in Epcot, you get the idea. These can make some of the most cherished memories for you and your kids. Keep those eyes peeled!
Remember, one of the time-honored traditions of Disney World is that characters will sign autographs. If you’ve got little ones with you, this is a great way to make a memory that will last for them. These are some tried and true Disney autograph books. A good pen is also helpful for the fur characters as their hands are covered with a costume.
Below we’ll lay out for you the formal opportunities and some of the informal ones, where you can catch a few minutes with some of your favorite Disney characters. Certain characters can only be met in Hollywood Studios, so if they are on your list of must do things make sure you plan accordingly. The characters that are only available in Hollywood Studios are:

Always get a daily times guide as you enter each park. However, you should be aware that not every Hollywood Studios character meet and greet is listed in the times guide. Characters who are available for meet and greets will be listed on there, along with specific times and locations where you can find them.
While times may show as continuous over several hours, be aware that characters take breaks throughout the day, so you may have to wait while the characters take a break. As you can imagine, an hour in the hot Florida sun and humidity while sporting some of those costumes can take it out of you!

BB-8
Where: Star Wars Launch Bay in Animation Courtyard
Times: BB-8 meets round the clock from park open to park close
Other Characters: No

Buzz Lightyear
Where: On the left, just before the giant Woody statue as you enter Toy Story Land
Times: Buzz meets throughout the daylight hours from park opening to around dark
Other Characters: No

Other Opportunities to Meet: You can meet Buzz in Magic Kingdom near Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. Kids can also meet Buzz at the Pixar Play Zone at the Contemporary Resort as part of Disney’s evening kids play event. This is kids only and it costs $65 each. If you’re looking for some alone time, this may be a great option you can drop the kids off.
Chewbacca
Where: Star Wars Launch Bay in Animation Courtyard. He also roams throughout Galaxy’s Edge off and on during the day.
Times: Chewbacca meets all day from park open to park close

Chip ‘n’ Dale
Where: Just inside the park entrance on the left at Sid Cahuenga’s
Times: Through park opening until around 4:00 is what we saw on our last trip

Other Opportunities to Meet: You can also see Chip ‘n’ Dale at Fort Wilderness Resort for their campfire sing-a-long, as well as at Garden Grill in Epcot for a character meal. They also meet in Magic Kingdom in Town Square on Main Street, U.S.A and in Animal Kingdom as part of Donald’s Dino-Bash!
Darth Vader
Where: Star Wars Launch Bay in Animation Courtyard
Times: Darth Vader meets all day from park open to park close

Times: Throughout the day, up until about 6:00 PM

Daisy Duck

Where: Much like other Star Wars characters, R2-D2 seems to roam around, but not just within Galaxy’s Edge. We’ve also seen him over at Star Wars Launch Bay. Yes, he does interact and he moves.
Times: Random. We’ve seen R2-D2 at various hours throughout the day, but normally during daylight hours. There doesn’t appear to be a schedule. You’re going to have to get lucky here.

Rey
Where: Roaming around Galaxy’s Edge

The first rule of Character Palooza is you don’t talk about Character Palooza. So we’ll keep this brief. Disney offers a bit of a pop-up character meet and greet opportunity on most days. Not all days though. You will see a random smattering of characters.
