In 2020 there is actually one more party than last year.

2020 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Dates Announced – But Tickets Are Not on Sale??

Late last week, Disney World seemed to do a bit of a news dump.  Usually, that is something reserved for people wanting to get information into the public without drawing attention to any one of them. However, Disney isn’t someone known for burying the lead.  Which makes what they released a bit puzzling.  What did they release, you ask?  Well, it was the dates and prices for the 2020 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!

To loosely borrow for Paul Harvey, that isn’t the rest of the story.  We’ll get to that here in a minute.  In this post, we’ll talk about the party dates and pricing, how they are different from last year, and what the weird omission is.

2020 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Dates

This year there are 24 party nights.  It may seem paltry compared to the 36 nights that Disney World announced for the 2020 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party dates, but it is one more party than last year.  The dates for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party are as follows:

  • November 8, 9, 12, 13, 16, 17, 19, 20, 22, 24, 29, 30
  • December 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 17, 18, 20, 22

There are two more party nights in November when compared to last year.  That is largely due to Thanksgiving moving up on the calendar a couple of days.  December loses one party night though.

In November, most 2020 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates are on Sundays, Mondays, and Fridays.  There are also four dates on Thursdays and Fridays in a couple of weeks leading up to Thanksgiving.

In December, parties are generally on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.  These days are available leading into the week of Christmas.

2020 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Prices

As with prior years, the 2020 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party prices vary by date.  We’ll try and give you some rules of the road here.  Use them as a guide, not as absolutes.

The further you are from Christmas, the cheaper the party is.  The big exception to that rule is the first night of the party (November 8th).  Those dang Disney bloggers and vloggers keep driving the price of that night up.  I say that in jest, sort of.

If you go to the last party night before Christmas (December 22nd), it will cost an adult $155 plus tax.  The cheapest adult ticket you will find is $105 plus tax.  You’ll only find these $105 ticket prices for two parties in mid-November.  They only escalate from there.  Kid’s tickets start at $100, plus tax.

If you want to attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party during December, the cheapest adult ticket you will find is $119.  Prices escalate dramatically the closer you get to Christmas.

The cheapest ticket prices are up from last year by $6 for adults and kids, which is about a 6.0% increase from last year.  On an absolute dollar basis, these increases are in line with the price increase for the Halloween party.

These are advance sales prices.  If you try to buy tickets on the day of the party, you will pay $10 per ticket more.

Tickets NOT on Sale Now!

So, now for the rest of the story…

As we said in the post title, tickets for the 2020 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party are not on sale now!  When tickets finally go on sale, you can go to the official Disney World website for the party to purchase tickets.

We assume that tickets are not on sale due to the ongoing pandemic.  Tickets for the party went on sale at this same time last year, and Disney is predictable about these things.  Disney World is likely putting out the party dates so guests can plan travel accordingly.  It will also give them some flexibility to adjust should the pandemic carry on longer than most people assume.

On a side note, if you are interested in attending Tony’s Most Merriest Town Square Party, we have a review of it from this last year.

We’ll be back with more coverage of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party as more information is released!
